Raymond Burnill Price was born June 26, 1934 on a farm near Hartford; the son of William (Bill) and Lucy (Tvedt) Price.
He grew up and attended Hillside country school in the Colton area. A few years after moving with his parents to a farm near Bruce, he married Sadie Salomonson at East Side Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls on September 24, 1955. They lived at the Price farm near Bruce for two years and in the Colton area for the rest of his life.
He had many jobs in his younger years, including farm hand, auto body repair, potato factory and meat packing plant. He worked at Sioux Steel in fabrication/maintenance for seventeen years, Pat’s Repair, Tomark Equipment, Tri-Valley High School as head custodian/maintenance for ten years, Colton Plumbing and Heating, retiring in 1990.
He always had a talent for fixing things, and repurposing parts from broken items to fix other things. “Can’t throw that away, never know when I will need it”. In his retirement he found an interest in woodworking, making many beautiful items for family and friends over the years. For many years spring always meant enjoyable times getting back out on the golf course with his sons, and a chance to wear his “flashy” shirts.
He is survived by his daughter, Monica (Mark) Flint, Lennox; sons, Wayne (Jodi) Price, Sioux Falls; David (Joan) Price and Cory (Bernadette) Price all of Colton; daughter in law, Sharon Price, Canton; twenty-three grandchildren, forty-nine great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Sadie, son Dale, parents and siblings, Allen, Harvey and Annabelle.
