Joseph Anthony Van Dam, 80, of Dell Rapids passed away Thursday, May 11, 2017.
A Celebration of life will be Monday, May 15, 2017 at Minnehaha Funeral Home in Dell Rapids with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
Joe was born October 2, 1936 to parents Nick and Catherine (Herwath) Van Dam. He had two sisters, Ethel and Helena and a brother, Nick Jr.
Joe loved the outdoors and sharing it with his friends and family. Camping, fishing and hunting were among his favorites. His favorite time of year to celebrate was the Fourth of July, making it a huge celebration for family and friends. He was a member of the Air Force and a long-time employee of John Morrell and Company in Sioux Falls.
Grateful for having shared his life are his children, Lori (Brian) Amundson of Madison, Lisa (Herbert) Christion of Sioux Falls, Lynda (Bill) Rave of Brookings, Jeffrey (Brenda) Van Dam of Sioux Falls and John Van Dam of Glenrock, WY. He had 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren as well as many other relatives and friends.
