Sylvia A. Poppen, 62, of Sioux Falls died Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Village.
Funeral services will begin at 10:30 AM Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic. Visitation will begin one hour before the service.
Sylvia was born January 26, 1954 in Sioux Falls to parents Marvin and Beulah (Miller) Parkinson. She graduated from West Lyon High School at Larchwood, Iowa in 1972.
She married Dirk Poppen April 24, 1980 and they were married until 2001. She worked in the ledger department at Northwestern Bank until MS restricted her.
She loved music, playing the piano, French horn and bass drum in marching band. She graduated as a 10 year member of the 4-H Club that was a fourth generation family. Her hobbies include, knitting, crocheting, reading, Super Hero comic books, science fiction, movies, roller skating, bowling and her cats. She loved spending time with her nieces and nephews.
Grateful for having shared her life are her mother, Beulah Parkinson, Sioux Falls; her siblings, Helen Paulson, Mitchell; Kate Parkinson-Brick, Brandon; Marvin Parkinson, Madison and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin.
