Orill I. Johnson

Orill I. Johnson, 76, of Baltic passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the Dells Nursing and Rehab Center surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will begin at 10:00 AM Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Baltic Lutheran Church. Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7:00 PM Friday at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic.

Orill was born September 3, 1940 to parents Joseph and Inga (Oien) Johnson. He grew up in Baltic and graduated from Baltic High School. After his education he worked as a carpenter for Baltic Building Supply until his retirement on February 8, 2003 after 39 years.

Orill married Bonnie Miller October 6, 1979 in Baltic.

Orill was baptized and confirmed at Baltic Lutheran Church, where he was a lifelong member. He was a member of the Baltic Volunteer Fire Department for several years. He also served in the Army National Guard.

Orill enjoyed playing pool, golfing, bowling, trap shooting, hunting, and fishing. He was an avid Green Bay Packers and Los Angeles Dodgers fan. His family was everything to him, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Bonnie, Baltic; his children, Sherry Hanson, Baltic; Larry (Marcia) Miller, Baltic; Dawn Miller, Flandreau; six grandchildren, Heather, Chris, Angela, Mandy, Melissa and Justin; nine great grandchildren; his sisters, Delores (John) Moe, Sioux Falls; Lila Swiden, Lennox; sisters in law, Beverly Johnson, Sioux Falls, Lynda Johnson, Baltic, and Marlys Schmidt, Wentworth; a brother in law, Rodney Docken, Baltic; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Verlyn, Gerald and Richard and sisters, Donna Welbes and Betty Docken.
