James Francis Dubbelde passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Edgewood Vista Assisted Living in Brookings.
Memorial services will begin at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church, Garretson. Visitation with family and friends will be held prior to the service at the church beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will be held in a private ceremony with family in the Black Hills at Pathways Spiritual Sanctuary at a later date.
Jim was born December 9, 1938 in Garretson to parents Frank and Eleanor Dubbelde. He attended school in Sherman and Garretson. He chauffeured his siblings to school by fitting as many as he could on his little scooter.
Jim worked road construction and did some farming in his early adulthood. He loved helping with chores on the family farm near Sherman. He later became very successful as an independent farm equipment sales representative.
He met Kathie while working at Du-Al Manufacturing in Sioux Falls and they were married November 2, 1974. They made their home in Sherman for almost 18 years. In 1993 they moved to an acreage near Madison and loved raising a menagerie of birds and animals. A move in 1998 brought them to their beautiful acreage and cabin in the Black Hills by Hermosa, until the Parkinson’s he ferociously fought forced them to leave in 2012.
Jim loved to hunt, fish, ride motorcycles, snowmobiles, and 4-wheelers along with restoring old tractors and motors.
Jim loved his wife, Kathie, his children, Todd (Ronda), Tracy (Robert), Troy (Sally), Victoria, and Darren (Jamie); grandchildren, Gage, Michael (Amy), Ashley (Brandon), Trevor, Jessica, Aiden, Arianna, Blake, Lorelai, and Case; great grandchildren, Lillian and Charlotte. He was grateful for his large family of siblings, Yvonne, Elaine (Norm), Pat (John), Shirley (Jack), Barb (Bob), Bob (Carole), JoAnn (Bob), Mary (Gregg), Shari (Gary), Marge (George), Dick (Marietta), Debb (Paul) and Danny.
His parents, Yvonne, Danny and Mary along with brothers in law Gary, Bob and John greeted Jim in Heaven.
We are very grateful to friends and family that touched our lives through this journey, especially the caring Angels at Edgewood Vista Assisted Living in Brookings. Life blessed him in many ways and illness taught Jim to appreciate his life.
