Lavon Ida Ellingson, 76, of Sioux Falls died Monday, August 29, 2016 at the Sanford USD Medical Center.
Memorial services will be at 1:00 PM Friday, September 2, 2016 at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic. Visitation will be one hour before the service.
Lavon was born December 9, 1939 at Dell Rapids to parents Nicholas and Freda (Rosenwald) Petersen. She grew up near Chester and graduated from Chester High School.
Lavon married Bruce Ellingson February 25, 1958 in Colton. After their marriage they lived in Sioux Falls, where she worked as a secretary before raising her family. Bruce died April 6, 1991.
She enjoyed sewing and her flower garden, but most of all she loved her family.
Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Angela Halse, Hayti; Deborah Ellingson, Sioux Falls and Brian Ellingson, Sioux Falls; five grandchildren, Alissa, Sydney, Brennan, Jordan and Kelsey; three great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Finnegan and Wesley; a sister, Darlene Iverson, Madison and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her sons, Isaac and Curtis, and four brothers, Merlin, Dwayne, Dean and Ray.
