Ivan Jan Jacobson, 67, of Sioux Falls died Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Avera McKennan Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, June 25, 2016 at East Nidaros Lutheran Church, rural Baltic. Burial will be in the East Nidaros Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Friday at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic.
Ivan was born May 30, 1949 in Sioux Falls to parents Joseph and Evelyn (Boyum) Jacobson. He grew up in Sioux Falls and graduated from Washington High School in 1967. He then attended the University of South Dakota. He then went off to Piolet Air Force School in Lubbock, Texas, where he trained on F-16 jets. He returned to Sioux Falls and attended Sioux Falls College and Augustana College, graduating in 1974 with a BA and Master Degree.
He was employed by John Morrell and Company as an accountant for 37 years.
Ivan was known for his quick-wit, dry sense of humor and intellect. He took great pride in his home, remodeling it frequently. He was a huge fan of hockey; the North Stars were his favorite.
Ivan is survived by his sister, Janet (Cris) Crist, Brother, David Jacobson, sister in law, Val Jacobson, brother in law, Ronald Wagner all of Sioux Falls; his nieces and nephews, Terry (Cyndee) Wagner, Julie Wagner, Jeff Wagner, Jodi (Tom) Nord, Tonya Wagner, Brad (Stuart) Jacobson, Matt Jacobson, and Brett (Mary) Crist; and grand nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Ann and Darlene and a brother Ron.
