Deborah Ann Dressen Bicknese of Dell Rapids passed away unexpectedly on June 17th, 2016 at the age of 63.
Deb is survived by her parents, Leonard and Mary Dressen of Dell Rapids, SD; sister, Kim Shefte (Stuart) of Dell Rapids, SD; husband, Leo Bicknese of Dell Rapids; children, Tim Verhey (Jennifer) of Parker, SD, Tom Verhey (Jaimi) of Sioux Falls, SD, William “Zach” Langner (Abby) of Omaha, NE and Katherine Cox (Brian) of Omaha, NE; step-sons, Robert Bicknese (Amanda) of Mountain Home, ID and Larry Bicknese of Dell Rapids, SD; 8 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her brother, Robert “Bob” Dressen of Viborg, SD.
Deb was born on March 3rd, 1953 in Dell Rapids, SD to Leonard and Mary Dressen. She graduated from Dell Rapids High School in 1971, the University of South Dakota in 1983 with an associate’s degree in Nursing, and Augustana University in 2005 with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. She married the love of her life, Leo in 2009.
Deb worked as a Registered Nurse for 22 years and retired from the VA Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD in 2010. She enjoyed camping with her family, karaoke, traveling to new places, four wheeling in the Black Hills, trucking with her husband Leo, attending Renaissance festivals and sewing. She was also very creative and crafty. In 2015, Deb opened her own business, Hobby Run Amuck, in Downtown Dell Rapids where she sold many of her handmade crafts.
Deb was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her children and the joys of her life, her grandchildren.
A memorial visitation is scheduled for Thursday, June 23rd with the family present from 5-7:00pm at Minnehaha Funeral Home at 104 E. 4th St Dell Rapids, SD 57022.
A memorial funeral service is scheduled for Friday, June 24th at 10:00am at the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids at 701 Orleans Ave, Dell Rapids, SD 57022, with cake and coffee to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Deb’s life.
