Janice Ruth Eigen, age 74, of rural Humboldt, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at her home at 5:30 am with her husband and hospice nurse by her side. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 am Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Humboldt, with interment to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-7:30 pm Tuesday, with a Prayer Service beginning at 7:30 pm, all at the church.

Jan was born on July 19, 1941, to Bernard and Elvera (Schirrschmidt) Buckley in Mankato, Minnesota. She attended school in North Mankato through 9 ^th grade until moving with her family to Golden Valley, Minnesota in 1956. She then attended and graduated from Robbinsdale High School in 1959 and pursued secretarial work.

On May 22, 1964, she married Clair Eigen. They continued to live in the Minneapolis area where there son, Jeff and daughter, Lisa were born. The family then moved to Fargo, North Dakota in June of 1974. In January of 1988, Jan and Clair then moved to Comfrey, Minnesota. She continued to live and work there until retiring in 1999. Her last move with her husband was to Humboldt, South Dakota in 2000. Jan enjoyed managing the CJ Angus Ranch, cooking, sewing, crocheting, and reading books.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Clair, Humboldt, daughters: Lisa Beckett, Ashland, OR, Julie Yde, Sioux Falls, and Teresa Eigen, Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren: Jordan Beckett, Alea Beckett, Dane Yde, Katrina Yde, and Charles Eigen; a sister, Kathleen Foerster, Florida, and a brother, Eugene Buckley, Mankato.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Jeff, grandson, Jorgen Yde, a brother, Raymond Buckley, and a sister, DiAnne McGowan.
