Marvel V. Brende, 92, of Renner died Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at her home under hospice care.

Memorial services will begin at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Renner Lutheran Church, Renner. Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7:00 PM Friday at the church.  Private family burial will precede the service.

Marvel was born November 25, 1923 near Renner, South Dakota to parents Halvor and Alma (Nustad) Brekke. She grew up in the Renner area and attended Renner Grade School and graduated from Washington High School in 1941.

After her education she worked for Pepsi Cola and John Morrell and Co. before she married Herman Brende on May 12, 1943 in Rapid City, South Dakota. After their marriage they lived on a farm south of Renner.

She was baptized at Renner Lutheran Church and confirmed at West Nidaros Lutheran Church. She was a lifelong member of Renner Lutheran Church, where she was involved in Sunday school, choir, circle and the ALCW.  She served as the first woman Trustee for Renner Lutheran Church.  She was also active in the Senior Citizens.

She loved to cook, bake, play cards with family and friends and watch the Renner Monarchs. Her family was everything to her.

Grateful for having shared her life are her children: Stuart Brende of Sioux Falls, Amber Kern of Renner, April (Robert) Endahl of Brandon, and Ryne Brende of Renner; grandchildren: Clayton Kern, John Kern, Mark Endahl, Craig Endahl, Kelli Sinksen, Shalece Brende, Dylan Brende, and Chantel Brende; and five great-grandchildren: Karsten, Kimberly, Kylee, Grant, and Allyson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman on February 10, 2016, her parents, sisters, Muriel Valerio, Shirley Brekke and two infant sisters.
