Barbara Putzier, 85, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Colton passed away Sunday, December 20, 2015.

Funeral services will begin at 10:30 AM Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at First Lutheran Church in Colton. Burial will be in Minnehaha Cemetery, rural Colton.

Visitation will be prior to services.

Barbara was born February 23, 1930 to parents Charles and Hildagard (Schmidtgal) Schmidt in Freeman, SD. She was raised and educated in several areas as she moved with her family to Minnesota and California.

Barbara married Lowell “Bud” Putzier December 27, 1960 in Sioux Falls. They lived in Kimball, Elk Point and Sioux Falls before settling in Colton in 1964.

Barbara was a member of First Lutheran Church and WELCA. She enjoyed gardening, embroidering and quilting. She was a great cook and baker. She loved to prepare meals for family and friends. Barbara moved to Sioux Falls in 2010.

Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Patrick, Sioux Falls, Gerald (Jackie), Sioux Falls, Dennis (Erin), Las Vegas, NV and Karen (Dan) Thomas, Platte Center, Neb.; five grandsons, Chris, Paul, Tim, Zachary and Benjamin; granddaughter, Austin; sister, Marjorie Chapp, Beatrice, Neb. and other relatives and friends.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lowell “Bud” in 1999; infant son and sister, Dorothy Simmons.
