Leslie Roy "Les" Walters, 81, of Dell Rapids lost his battle to cancer Sunday, August 30, 2015 at Dougherty House Hospice.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM Thursday, September 3, 2015 at the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids. Burial will be in Pioneer Cemetery, rural Baltic, SD.

Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday at Minnehaha Funeral Home in Dell Rapids.

Les was born June 27, 1934 to parents George and Grace (Groen) Walters in Kanarazi, MN. He attended school through the 8th grade and then enjoyed helping his uncle on the farm during his teenage years. Les enjoyed working road construction and farming through the years. He continued his love of farming by assisting Kenny Anderson with various duties on the farm for over 40 years.

Les married Judy Skatvold on April 15, 1959 at the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids where they continue to be members. They lived around the Dell Rapids area through the years. Les always put his family and friends first; always willing to lend a helping hand. He especially enjoyed “social time” with his family and many friends.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Judy; daughters, Kim (Pat) Lindholm, Cheryl (Tim) Bauman, Carol (Joel) Bunkers and Julie Sharp (Kris Sieve); grandchildren, Jeremy (Lori), Angie (Jim), Brent, Joshua, Amy (Matt), Brett (Samantha), Michelle (Garrett), Brittnie (Zach), Dylan (Stacia), Nikki, Miriah (J.D.) and Brodie; 20 great-grandchildren; sister, Aleida Kruger; brothers, Dick (Doris), Glen (Norma), Ed (LaVonne), George (Donna), Joe, Darrel (Marge), Alvin (Joy), Ervin (Kathy), Arvin and Ronnie (Sandy); brother-in-laws, LeRoy (Diane), Dean (Karen) and Keith Skatvold; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Les was preceded in death by 2 children, Gary and Teresa; his parents; mother and father-in-law and brother.

We will miss his sense of humor and smile, but will never forget him!
