Donna Gross, 72, of Garretson passed away Saturday, June 6, 2015.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at Split Rock Lutheran Church, rural Brandon. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Minnehaha Funeral Home in Garretson.

Donna was born April 16, 1943 in Sioux Falls to parents Victor and Myrtle (Sorenson) Hanson of Garretson. She grew up on the family farm three miles south of Garretson. For grades one through six she attended Roadside Country School, then seven through twelve at Garretson Public School. Donna graduated in 1961 then attended Augustana College in Sioux Falls for two years.

Donna married Kenny Gross November 1, 1963. They made their home in Sioux Falls and Brandon until 1976 at which time they moved to Garretson. Donna worked for the Brandon Valley school system for 27 years until health issues forced an early retirement. Music played a very important part of her life. She played the organ and was a very active member at Split Rock Lutheran Church. Donna loved her family, enjoying every minute spent with them. She also liked car racing and football and was a Vikings fan.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Kenny, Garretson; son, Mike (Mary) Gross, Garretson; daughter, Lori (Charlie) Holzapfel, Garretson; grandson, Justin (Mandy) Holzapfel, Redwood Falls, MN; great-grandchildren Keegan and Hadley Holzapfel and mother, Myrtle Hanson, Garretson. She was preceded in death by her father, Victor Hanson.
