David Lee Hoffman, age 57, of Colton, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2015, from injuries received in a car accident near Selby, South Dakota. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 AM Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at First Lutheran Church, Colton. Visitation with the family present will be from 5-8:00 PM Tuesday, at the church.
Dave was born March 10, 1958, to Charles and Darlene (Cook) Hoffman. He graduated from Tri-Valley High School in 1976 and Dakota State College. He spent one year teaching in Henry, South Dakota before spending the rest of his life working for various construction companies including Jan Davis Masonry, Tom Skrovig Construction, and lastly Custom Touch Homes in Madison.
Dave was an avid hunter and fisherman his entire life. He especially loved wader fishing, casting jigs in the spring, and tip-up fishing for northern in the winter. Dave loved sports of all kinds, especially baseball. Dave was known for his friendly demeanor and ability to talk with anyone. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Dave is survived by his mother, Darlene Hoffman, Colton; brothers, Ron of Sioux Falls, Roger (Dennise) of Mobridge, Randy of White Lake; sister, Barb (Lynn) Okrina of Minneota, MN; nephews and niece, Ryan, Scott, and Chelsy Hoffman, all of Mobridge. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles in 2004.
