Roger Lee Mouw, 74 of Colton passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Sanford USD Medical Center.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 9, 2013 at First Reformed Church, Colton. Burial will be in the Colton Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7:00 pm Friday at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Colton.
Roger was born December 14, 1938 at Orange City, Iowa to parents Morris and Wilma (Swets) Mouw. He grew up in the Boyden Hull area and graduated from Northwestern Academy in 1957. He then worked for his uncle at Don Mouw Construction. He later served in the United States Army. After his discharge he married Lois DeWaard July 1, 1966 in Woden, Iowa. They moved to Washington State and then moved to Colton in 1968.
Roger worked for Cornie Van Helden Construction, John Weber Construction and then for Masterson Construction until his illness forced him to retire.
Roger enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and also spending time and going to all his sons and grandchildren’s activities.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Lois, Colton, sons, Scott Mouw, Tea; Todd Mouw, Burnsville, Minnesota; three grandchildren, Joshua, Thomas, and Sydney; three brothers, Allen (Lorene) Mouw, Lake Shetek, Minnesota; Leon (Fran) Mouw, Boyden, Iowa; Glen (Lois) Mouw, Sioux Center, Iowa; five sisters, Dorothy (Frank) DeBoer, Holland, Michigan; Marilyn (Glen) Westra, Rock Valley, Iowa; Judy Hoogendorn, Milford, Iowa; Karen (Dave) Postema, Grapevine, Texas; and Cheryl Mouw, Panama City, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Warren Mouw.
