Donald LeMar Foster, age 77, died on Sunday, July 1, 2012, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne, Minnesota. Memorial services will begin at 7:00 PM Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at St. Jacob’s Lutheran Church, rural Colton. Burial will be held at a later date at the Bethany Lutheran Cemetery, rural Colton.
Donald was born May 30, 1935 in Chester, South Dakota to parents Charles Donald and Lenore (Smemoe) Foster. He grew up in the Buffalo Trading Post area. He graduated from Franklin High School and was a member of the Franklin High School basketball team that was in the State “B” Tournament in 1953.
In 1954 he entered the University of South Dakota and was accepted as a Fraternity Brother with the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity.
Donald joined the United States Air Force in 1956, studied Russian at Syracuse University and was in the Air Force Security Service serving in northern Germany.
After his military service he owned and operated Buffalo Trading Post for 18 years. He married Marjorie Goslee April 2, 1978 and they moved to Custer, where he worked for a time in the lumber industry, then earned a realtor’s license and worked with the Bradeen Real Estate in Custer until he suffered a stroke in 2004. Marjorie died one month before his devastating stroke in 2004.

Richard Foster, Sioux Falls; sister in law, Susan Foster, Madison; his step children, Elaine (Kent) Bales, Huron; Martha (Don) Jaramillo, Alliance, NE; Anthony (Catherine) Goslee, Ballwin, MO; Mary (Larry) Linderman, Lakeville, IL; Jane (Greg) Porter, Beaverton, OR; Ruth (Paul) Anderson, Wentworth, SD; Susan (John) Graham, Sioux Falls; John Goslee, Palmer, AK; Jo Ellen Gottstein, Anchorage, AK; 30 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Markell & Aaron Gnadt; Marissa Wollmann; Dan Foster; Cindy, Michelle, & Jeff Lamberty, Kevin Foster and Dr. Jill Foster-Hofer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Marjorie, his brother, Judson, and a granddaughter, Katie Semianer.
