Harlan O. “Red” Forseth, 90 of Sioux Falls, formerly of Baltic, died Monday, April 9, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls.
Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM Thursday, April 12, 2012, at Baltic Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Wednesday at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic. Burial will be in the St. Olaf Cemetery, Baltic, SD.
Harlan was born January 28, 1922 to parents Hans and Hannah (Kirkvold) Forseth at Hendricks, Minnesota. He grew up in the Hendricks area and attended school there. He moved to Sioux Falls where he owned and operated a Forseth Gas Station with his brother. He married Elaine Voss May 26, 1950 in Sioux Falls. They lived in Sioux Falls until moving to Baltic in 1968. There Red was the maintenance engineer at the Baltic School until his retirement in 1985. Red also worked as a painter for all of his life.
Red enjoyed playing his accordion over the years in his band the Red’s Rhythms and the Baltic Accordion Band. He enjoyed spending time at his cabin at Lake Madison, playing cards and spending time with his family.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Elaine, Sioux Falls; his sons and their spouses, Garry & Brenda Forseth and Dave & Cheri Forseth, all of Sioux Falls; his grandchildren, Madi, Ryan, and Cory Forseth and a great granddaughter, Allie Forseth.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Irvin and Justin and two sisters, Mary and Marie.
