Mary Evelyn Danielson

Mary E. Danielson, age 86, of Garretson, died on Saturday, March 24, 2012, at Palisade Manor in Garretson. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at the Zion Lutheran Church, Garretson. Visitation will begin at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday, family present from 5-7:00 P.M. at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Garretson.

Mary Evelyn Danielson was born on May 7, 1925, at Madison, South Dakota, to John and Nellie (Falon) Ronk. She grew up and attended school in the Madison area. She was baptized on July 26, 1925, at St. Peter’s Church in Colman, South Dakota. She married Keith Danielson on May 11, 1946, in Vermillion, South Dakota. After their marriage, the couple lived in Sioux Falls, Colman, and Marion before settling in Garretson in 1957. Mary worked at Palisade Manor for several years. Keith died on March 31, 2007.

Mary was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Garretson where she was active in quilting and the Altar Guild. She was an avid collector and judge of dolls and was a member of the United Federation of Doll Clubs and the Minnehaha Dollers. Mary greatly enjoyed spending time with her family and spending time at the family’s cabin on Lake Madison.

Grateful for having shared her life are her children: Sandy (Don) DeBates of Garretson, Bert (Linda) Danielson of Sherman, Marcia Danielson of Minneapolis, and Michael (Mary) Danielson of Rockford, Illinois; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mary (DeRunges) Ronk of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and a brother-in-law, Donald Danielson of Willmar, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters: Mable Kirkeby, Mildred Gueffroy, Ethel Gill, Lois Crelly, Marjorie Johnson, and Edna Steele; brothers: Lloyd Ronk, Clifford Ronk, John Ronk Jr., and Leo Ronk.
