Marvin W. Tellinghuisen, 79, of Lyons died Monday, March 19, 2012 at the Community Living Center at the Royal C. Johnson Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls. Memorial services will begin at 10:30 AM Friday, March 23, 2012 at West Nidaros Lutheran Church, rural Crooks. Memorial visitation will be from 6-8:00 PM Thursday at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic. Committal will be in the West Nidaros Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to AseraCare Hospice or the Community Living Center at the VA.

Marvin was born September 26, 1932 at Parker to parents Martin and Maggie (Ihnen) Tellinghuisen. He married Doreen Wall December 25, 1955 in Freeman. He was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Parker. He graduated from General Beadle College in 1961. He taught and coached football and basketball at Elmore, Minnesota from 1961 to 1963. He then taught and coached at Lyons High School and Tri Valley High School from 1963 to 1972. He later worked for Vernell Johnson Real Estate and Auction Services and then for Chuck Sutton, Auctioneer. Marv also farmed in the Lyons area. He enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War.

Marv and Doreen spent winters in Mission, Texas from 1992 to 2010. He enjoyed playing golf, cards and pool. He was a member of the West Nidaros Lutheran Church.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Doreen, Lyons; daughters, Rhonda (Glenn) Cluck, Puyallup, WA; Denise (Jon) Kolba, Crooks; six grandchildren, Rachel (Brandon) Barker, Rebecca (Austin) Warnock, Drew Burggraff, Juliane Burggraff, Steven Cluck, and Kristin Burggraff; a brother, Richard (Karen) Tellinghuisen, Sioux Falls; sisters, Joyce Scott, Arizona City, AZ; Phyllis Lindberg, Minneapolis; sister in law, Iona Tecklenburg, Parkston and brother in law, Harvey (Dona) Wall, Freeman and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Arnold and a sister, Marilyn Paulsen.
