Inez M. Nelson

January 8, 1916 — March 8, 2012

Inez M. Nelson, 96, of Colton passed away Thursday, March 8, 2012 at Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM Monday, March 12, 2012 at St. Jacobs Lutheran Church, rural Colton. Burial will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, rural Garretson.

Visitation with the family present will be from 2:00 to 4:00 PM with a prayer service at 3:30 PM Sunday at Minnehaha Funeral Home in Colton.

Inez was born on January 8, 1916 to Jens and Inga (Schjodt) Myrmoe. She was married to Leonard Nelson for 43 years until he passed away in 1981. They raised two children, Loren and Beverly, in the Colton area.

Inez worked over 30 years as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Good Samaritan Society in Sioux Falls and Terrace Manor in Dell Rapids.

Inez was active in the church as a Sunday school teacher and Ladies Aide member and president. Inez enjoyed camping, square dancing, collecting rooster figurines, playing on bowling leagues, and had a love for many pets. Her interests included: setting jigsaw puzzles, completing word searches, playing card games, embroidering, making lefse, and baking cookies.

Grateful for having shared her life are: son, Loren (Charleen Austin) of St. George, UT; daughter, Bev Nelson of Canton, SD; grandchildren, Lori Sorensen of Eagan, MN, Brad Nelson (Stacie) of Buffalo, MN, Leah Jane Laub (LaDel) of Beryl, UT, Denise Deutsch of Lakeville, MN, Derek Nelson of Canton, SD; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jens and Inga (Schjodt) Myrmoe; husband, Leonard Nelson; brothers, Marvin and Maurice Myrmoe; sister, Marian (Myrmoe) Sagmoe; great-granddaughter, Karlye Deutsch.

The family of Inez Nelson wishes to express their sincere appreciation to all those that have extended their thoughts and prayers. A special thank you to the staff at Good Samaritan Village and Compassionate Care Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials are directed to St. Jacobs Lutheran Church.
