Violet E. Wehde

Violet E. Wehde, 86, of Sioux Falls formerly of Baltic and Dell Rapids died Monday, February 13, 2012 at Sanford USD Medical Center.

Funeral services will begin at 10:00 AM Saturday, February 18, 2012 at West Nidaros Lutheran Church, rural Crooks. Burial will be in the West Nidaros Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM with the family present from 5-7:00 PM Friday at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Dell Rapids.

Violet was born February 19, 1925 on a farm near Beresford to parents Erick August and Frida (Olson) Kram. She grew up in the Beresford area and attended North Star and Rainy Vail country schools and graduated from Beresford High School in 1943. After high school she attended a business school in Indiana. She returned to Sioux Falls and began working at John Morrell and Company, where she met Raymond Wehde. Violet and Ray where married on Violet’s birthday, February 19, 1947 in Beresford. After their marriage they farmed near Baltic. They moved into Dell Rapids in 2001. Ray died December 10, 2002. She continued to live in Dell Rapids until moved to Good Samaritan Village in 2007. She later entered Luther Manor.

Violet was an active member of the West Nidaros Lutheran Church and ladies aid. She enjoyed fishing, her garden and flowers, playing cards, and the animals on the farm.

Grateful for having shared her life are her sons, Roger (Janet) Wehde, Dell Rapids, Gaylon (Jolene) Wehde, Crooks, four grandchildren,Kelsey Wehde, Sarah (DJ) Hagberg, Laura Wehde, and Nathan Wehde; six great grandchildren,Dylan, Blake, Alyson, Katrina, Tyson, and Ryker; and a sister Doris Clay, Beresford; a sister in law, Marion Wehde, Sioux Falls; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, parents, a sister, Alice and an infant son.
