Keith Allan Sandberg, 64, of Sioux Falls died suddenly Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Sanford USD Medical Center.

Funeral Services will begin at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at the Benton Lutheran Church, rural Crooks. Burial will be in the Benton Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:30 to 7:30 PM Monday at the church.

He was born to parents, Leonard and Marvel Sandberg, September 25, 1947. He grew up in Crooks, South Dakota and graduated from Lyons High School. He joined the Navy on his 17 ^th birthday and served 3 years including one tour of duty in Vietnam. After the service he worked for Cargill Industries in Minneapolis, Minnesota from 1973 to 1998 as International Sales Manager for the Seed Division. After Cargill he moved to Las Vegas, NV and worked for Agri Biotech as Vice President of Sales and Marketing and later moved to an executive position at Land O’ Lakes Inc. in Kansas City. He was a skilled executive in sales and marketing and had a long and successful career.

He moved back to Sioux Falls in 2003 and began a career in real estate with Hegg Realty which he grew into a successful business where he specialized in land and acreages and was a local land expert.

He married Sharron Sandberg in 1969 and was married for 25 years. They had one child Stacy, and divorced in 1994. He later adopted his grandchildren, Brittany and Ryan.

Keith was an avid sportsman; he loved to hunt and fish with family and friends. His constant companion and best friend was his dog, Max. He enjoyed traveling and traveled extensively in his career with Cargill. He loved people and could make anyone feel comfortable and at ease in conversation. His love and devotion to family was exceptional .He was a charter member in the VFW, Post 5770 at Crooks. Keith was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls.

Grateful for having shared his life are his three children- Stacy Sandberg-Webb, Brittany Sandberg, and Ryan Sandberg, Sioux Falls, SD; one grandchild Heather Zach, Las Vegas. NV;two sisters, Genell Sandberg and Eddie Dunn, Sioux City, IA, Lori Clardy, Santa Rosa, CA and brother Jim Ecker , Sioux Falls, SD and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Rose Sandberg and Marvel Glenney. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Benton Lutheran Church Parking Lot fund or the Cemetery fund.
