Julaine "Julie" Hammer

Julaine “Julie” Hammer, 75, of Lakewood Colorado, died Wednesday, December 28, 2011 in Lakewood.  Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM Friday, January 6, 2012 at East Nidaros Lutheran Church, rural Baltic.  Burial will be in the East Nidaros Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM Thursday at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic.

Julaine “Julie” was born December 17, 1936 near Baltic to parents Melvin and Ida (Johnson) Myran.  She grew up near Wessington Springs and graduated from Alpena High School.   Julie married Merlin Hammer December 13, 1958 at Baltic Lutheran Church.  After their marriage they lived in Brooking, Sioux Falls, Mitchell, Iowa, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, West Virginia, Maryland, and finally to Colorado in 1974.  After her children were raised, she worked for Joslins/Dillards for several years.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years, Merlin in 2006.  Julie enjoyed skiing, bowling, crafts, rummage sales, and spending time with her family.

Grateful for having shared her life are her children: Jean (Kim) Gendill, Littleton, Colorado, Jeff (Kathy) Hammer, Lakewood, Colorado, and Jay (Mandy) Hammer, Boynton Beach, Florida;  seven grandchildren: Brianna, Brittany, Brycen, Justin, Emily, Lauren and Greg; a brother, Lyle (Shannon) Myran, Brandon; and sisters, Marilyn Hanson and Lou Jean Steiner, both of Rapid City.  She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Percy Myran.
