Esther Ethel Oma Bork

Esther Bork, 92, of Sioux Falls died Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Southridge Health Care Center in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM Saturday, December 31, 2011 at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic. Visitation will begin one hour before the service. Burial will be in the Humboldt Cemetery.


Esther was born on June 1, 1919 to parents William and Myrtle (Shaw) Horsten in Wessington Springs, South Dakota. She graduated from high school in Jerauld County on June 9, 1933. Esther married Alfred Bork on January 1, 1944 in Madison. After their marriage they lived on a farm north of Humboldt, farming and raising various animals. Alfred died on May 10, 1960 in Sioux Falls. She continued to live on the farm raising chickens and toy terriers.
Esther enjoyed baking, canning and cooking for her family and also going to rummage sales looking for antiques to buy or sell. She later moved to Crooks, Dell Rapids and then Sioux Falls.

Survivors include her children, Inez (Robert) Buller, Sioux Falls; Wayne (Nancy) Bork, Humboldt; Neal (Kristin) Bork, Nampa, ID; Haldon “HK” (Donna) Bork, Kemper, TX; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Alfred; grandson, Craig Buller; three brothers, William, George and an infant boy; seven sisters, Rena Meyer, Gertrude Meyer, Edna Haak, Lavina Horsten, Viola Horsten, Lucille Horsten and Velma Pearson.
