Jerome "Pete" Schwebach

Pete Schwebach, 85, died peacefully of lung cancer at the Dougherty Hospice House on Monday Oct. 10th.

Mass of Christian Burail will be 1:00 PM Friday, October 14, 2011 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Dell Rapids. Visitation will be from 2-5:00 PM Thursday at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Dell Rapids. A Wake Service will be at 7:00 PM Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church with a Rosary to follow. Burial will be in the St. Mary Cemetery with Military Honors by the Dell Rapids American Legion.

Born August 27th, 1926 in Dell Rapids, Pete graduated from St. Mary's School, joined the U.S. Navy at age 17 in 1944, and attended SDSU. On October 11, 1952, he married Marie Mihin. All his life, Pete worked in business on Dell Rapids' main street. He founded Schwebach Insurance and Real Estate in 1960. Pete enjoyed serving people. He was a life-long resident of Dell Rapids. He loved Dell Rapids and his family very much.

He was a member of the American Legion for over 60 years and a life long member of St. Mary Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marie, his five children, Karen Wallenberg (Brad), Tim, Rob (Lynn), Jeff (Denise) and Tom (Tami), his fourteen grandchildren, and his sister, Rita Walker. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Nick, Eugene, Len, Fritz and sisters Agnes and Mary.
