Leona E. Kummerfeldt

Leona E. Kummerfeldt, 97, of Sherman died Monday, August 27, 2011 at Bethany Lutheran Home in Sioux Falls.
Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Zion Lutheran Church in Garretson. Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7:00 PM Wednesday at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Garretson. Burial will be in the Maplewood Cemetery, Luverne, Minnesota.
Leona was born July 28, 1914 on the family farm near Sherman to parents Frank and Emma (Falk) Kummerfeldt. She grew up near Sherman and attended country school near Sherman and graduated with her younger sister Lucille from Garretson High School in 1934. After her education she farmed with her dad and continued to farm after his death.
Leona continued to live on the farm until moving into assisted living.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Sherman, where she was active in the ladies and quilting group. She also made gift cards with the neighbors.
Grateful for having shared her life are cousins and other relatives and friends.
