Erna I. Haagenson, 95, of Sioux Falls died Sunday, May 22, 2011 at the Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls, where she has lived for the past four years.
Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, May 26, 2011 at Palisade Lutheran Church, Rock County, Minnesota. Burial will be in the Norway Cemetery, rural Garretson. Visitation with the family present will be from 6-8:00 PM Wednesday at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Garretson.
Erna Irene Haagenson, daughter of William and Alma (Gunderson) Rossman, was born April 18, 1916 in Sioux Falls and grew up near Garretson. She was baptized by Rev. H.J. Glenn in Sioux Falls and confirmed at Norway Lutheran Church on June 1, 1930. She attended the Bothun Country School District #13 and graduated from Garretson High School in 1935.
Erna was united in marriage to Hobert Haagenson on January 25, 1939 at Norway Lutheran Church. They farmed in the Dell Rapids and Garretson areas. They moved to Beaver Creek, Minnesota in 1957 and became residents of Sioux Falls in 1966.
Erna was a member of Palisade Lutheran Church.
Grateful for having shared her life are a son, Bill (Joan) Haagenson, Garretson; daughters, Carol Jonason and Cindi (Dave) Biever, both of Sioux Falls; six grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and a sister, Arlene Kringen, Sioux Falls.
Erna was preceded in death by her husband Hobert on October 20, 1992, an infant son, her parents, a son in law, Arlen Jonason, a brother, Robert Rossman and a twin sister, Verna Roland.
