Gordon "Gordy" Fjellanger

Gordon “Gordy” Fjellanger, 70, of Chester died Friday, May 20, 2011 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at Highland Lutheran Church, rural Sherman. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7:00 PM Sunday, May 22, 2011 at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Dell Rapids.

Gordon was born January 29, 1941 on a farm near Sherman, South Dakota. He was baptized and later confirmed at the Highland Lutheran Church. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school near Sherman. Gordon was in the Army National Guard, serving as a Sergeant. He married Judy Grimm on February 8, 1964. They made their home in Jasper, Minnesota. In 1964 he went to work for the Jasper Stone Company in Jasper, where he worked for 42 years, he retired in 2006.
Gordon married Nancy Everson July 6, 1991. After their marriage they lived in Sioux Falls for six years and then moved to Brandt Lake where they have lived for fourteen years. Gordy and Nancy have enjoyed the many pleasures that living on the lake has had to offer.

Gordy enjoyed hunting, gardening, pinochle and watching NASCAR.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Nancy, Chester; his children, Terry (Pam Ruckelshausen) Fjellanger, Humboldt; Butch (Kris) Fjellanger, Jasper, MN; Wendy (Greg Conrad) Fjellanger, Pipestone, MN; Clarence (Melissa Lorenzen) Fjellanger, Dell Rapids; step children, Stephanie (Johannes Parkkonen) Spars, Vermillion; Anne (Lee) Johanson, Egan; Grandchildren, Kayla Fjellanger and Ashley Lorenzen; step grandchildren Willow and LeeAnne; sisters, Carol Braken, Santa Anna, CA; Judith (Larry) Baden, Brainerd, MN; Phyllis (David) Smith, Jasper, MN; brothers, Dennis (Terri) Fjellanger, and Loren Fjellanger, all of Dell Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Kellie, step son, Kurt, brothers Clarence and John, two infant brothers, and a brother in law, Glenn Braken.
