Jorgen Thomas Yde

Jorgen Thomas Janson Yde was born August 23, 1994 at Sioux Valley Hospital to Julie and J.R. Yde. He was the youngest of three to his brother, Dane and sister, Katrina. He was raised on an acreage just outside his hometown of Renner, South Dakota. He was baptized and confirmed at West Nidaros Lutheran Church. He was a sophomore at Sioux Falls Lincoln and a member of the Patriot Cross-Country and Baseball teams. He was aspiring to attend the Air Force Academy to study Engineering and someday become a pilot. Throughout his life, he developed a passion for baseball, fishing, running, and music. He enjoyed the simple things in life, never asking for much, and caring deeply about his family and friends.

Jorgen passed away May 12, 2011 at Sanford Children’s Hospital in Sioux Falls after an 11 month-long battle with Leukemia.

Grateful for having shared his life are his parents Julie and J.R. Yde, Sioux Falls; his bother, Dane Yde and sister Katrina Yde; his grandparents, Richard and Lola Yde, Madison, WI; Gloria Smith, Sioux City, IA; and Clair (Jan) Eigen, Humboldt; and 23 cousins.
He was preceded in death by his step grandfather, Alfred Smith.

A prayer service will be held at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Sioux Falls at 7pm on Sunday, May 15 with visitation beginning at 5pm. The funeral service will be held at West Nidaros Lutheran Church on Monday, May 16 at 2pm. Burial will be in the West Nidaros Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred in Jorgen’s memory.
