Carol Ann (Ackerman) Roemen, 52, of Renner passed away unexpectedly Sunday, April 10, 2011 at Sanford USD Medical Center from a brain hemorrage.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM Friday, April 15, 2011 at Renner Lutheran Church.
Burial will be in Ness Cemetery, Cooperstown, ND at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 21, 2011. A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow the service at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cooperstown.
Visitation will begin at 3:00 PM Thursday with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and a Prayer service at 7:00 PM at Minnehaha funeral Home in Dell Rapids.
Carol was born November 7, 1958 in Grand Forks, ND to E. Myron and Colleen (Peterson) Erickson. She grew up and attended school in Cooperstown, ND, graduating in 1977. In 1981 she received a BS Degree in Education with majors in English and Business Education from Mayville State University, Mayville, ND. She worked as a reporter for the Devils Lake Journal and Bottineau Courant. Carol worked for the Grand Forks Chamber of Commerce and the University of North Dakota Alumni Center. From 1987 to 2011 she worked in marketing for rural electric cooperatives in Grand Forks, ND; Vinita, OK and Colman, SD as well as the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association. Currently she was employed in marketing with Lawrence and Schiller, Sioux Falls; SD.
Carol received many notable honors including the 2009 Agribusiness Person of the Year and the Distinguished Sales and Marketing Executive International Sioux Falls (SMEI) Award. She was selected to serve on the national Touchstone Energy Standards and Best Practices Committee. Carol served on local economic development boards as well as many other boards in the Sioux Falls area.
Carol’s hobbies and interests included gardening, snowmobiling, sprint car races and camping. She loved to entertain her family and friends.
Carol was united in marriage to Glenn Roemen June 6, 2009 at Renner Lutheran Church.
Carol is survived by her husband, Glenn Roemen, Renner, SD; mother, Colleen Erickson, Jamestown, ND; sisters, Diane (Bill) Weispfenning, Jamestown, ND and Pamela (Curtis) Sommer, Fargo, ND; stepchildren, Shane (Laura) Van Der Vliet and Peityn, Sand Springs, OK and Crystal (Dane) Christensen, Dylan and unborn grandchild, Dell Rapids, SD; mother-in-law, Amelia Roemen, Inwood, IA; several brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews and many close friends. She was preceded in death by her father.
Carol was proud to be an organ and tissue donor.
