Ella A. Aasen, 91, of Dell Rapids formerly of Renner died Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Bethany Lutheran Home in Sioux Falls.
Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM Thursday, April 14, 2011 at West Nidaros Lutheran Church, rural Crooks. Burial will be in the Pioneer Cemetery, rural Baltic. Visitation with the family present will be from 6-8:00 PM Wednesday at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic.
Ella Arlene Moe was born October 9, 1919 at home near Renner to Ben and Emma (Brende) Moe. She grew up near Renner and married Phillip Aasen August 23, 1941 at East Side Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls.
Ella was a member of West Nidaros Lutheran Church and ladies aid, Minnehaha Historical Society, American Legion Auxiliary of Baltic, and Sons of Norway.
She bowled at the Dells Bowl for thirty years with her best friends Pearl and Maureen.
Grateful for having shared her life are her daughters, Lee Ann (Paul) Smith, Cary, NC; Carol (Bob) Johnson, Dell Rapids; Ella Jean (Dan) Lambertz, Sioux Falls; Andrea Haugen (Chuck) Griffin, Sioux Falls; a daughter in law, Linda Aasen, Sioux Falls; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; a great great grandson; a brother Bennie “Bud” Moe, Custer; three sisters, Eunice Thompson, Vancouver, WA; Florence Selland and Doris Ernst, both of Sioux Falls, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip in 1986, a son, Jerry in 2008, siblings, Sena Oaks, Art, Dennis and James Moe.
