Julia (Mannes) Kramer, 92, of Baltic passed away Friday, April 8, 2011 at the Dells Area Health Center.
Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at Baltic Lutheran Church, Baltic. Burial will be in the St. Olaf Cemetery, rural Baltic. Visitation with the family present will be from 6-8:00 PM Monday at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic.
Julia was born in Brandon on May 12, 1918 to parents Hans and Martha Karina (Tonnessen) Mannes. She grew up at Brandon and graduated from Brandon High School. Julia married Henry Kramer October 6, 1948. They lived near Rowena for a couple of years before moving to a farm on the north edge of Baltic in 1950. She worked at Sioux Steel, Morrells for four years and then for the Baltic Public School in the kitchen and as a janitor for sixteen years retiring in 1983. Henry passed away October 20, 1976.
Julia was an active member of Baltic Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid, Circle, Quilting group, and the Baltic Senior Citizens. Upon retiring she loved to make apple pies, potato cakes, krum kaka, and goodies which she loved to give away.
Grateful for having shared her life are a son David and his wife Shay, Sioux Falls; a daughter, Karen and her husband Garry Voelker, Baltic; six grandchildren, Andrew (Addie), Lucas, Alexis, and Regina Kramer, Jennifer and Chris (Jennifer) Voelker; three great grandsons, Jace, and William Kramer and Noah Mans; several nieces and nephews, and a sister in law, Josephine Oltmanns, Lennox. She was preceded in death by a daughter Julene Renae in 1960, her parents, three brothers, Tonnes, Henry, and Kenneth and two sisters, Clara Grevillius and Hannah Buttolph.
