Alvin "Bud" Leroy Mersch

Alvin “Bud” Mersch, 79, of Garretson died on February 28, 2011, at the Royal C. Johnson Veterans Medical Center, Sioux Falls. Memorial services will begin at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, March 12, 2011 at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Garretson. Bud was born on May 10, 1931 in Sioux City, Iowa. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1951 and served until his Honorable Discharge in 1953. He married Gayle Mersch on August 14, 1998 and moved to Garretson in December of 1998. Bud had a passion for woodworking and always put his wife first. He is survived by his wife, Gayle, Garretson and her children: Tim (Kelly) Thompson, Bridgewater, Kim (Arlen) Klingenberger, Garretson, Kristi Rempe, Sioux Falls, and Gennifer (Daryl) Randolph, Sioux Falls; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; an extra special grandchild, Terry Thompson; a cousin, Roger Mersch, Elk Point; and an extra special friend, Dave Benning.
