Armella Even

Armella Even, 90, of Dell Rapids passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Avera McKenan Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 2:00 PM Friday, March 4, 2011 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Dell Rapids.

Burial will be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Dell Rapids.

Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM with the family prsent from 5:00 to 7:00 PM and a Wake service at 6:00 PM Thursday at Minnehaha Funeral Home in Dell Rapids.

Armella Hey was born February 16, 1922 in Dell Rapids to Edward and Eleanora (Gebhart) Hey. The youngest of eleven children, she graduated from St. Mary High School in 1940.

In 1942 she was married to Ralph Even in Dell Rapids. She traveled with Ralph to Florida and California before he was deployed in World War II. After Ralph’s return, they operated cafes in White, SD and Humboldt, SD. In 1955 they moved to Dell Rapids. She worked for the Dell Rapids Community Hospital for many years.

Armella loved golfing with her kids, keeping up with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, gardening, crocheting, playing card and dominoes. She had a tremendous faith and a care giving nature for all those around her.

Armella is survived by five sons, Jerry and Judy; Ed and Donna; Frank and Vicki; Tom and Lynda and John and Marcie; four daughters, Darlene; Sue and Pete Peterson; Peg and Patty; twelve grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren, Jen and Peter Glasheen -- Sidney, Max and Maddie; Jason and Shawn Even –- Jack, Miles and Macy; Jayne and Mike Gust –- Addyson; Ed and Emily Even –- Joe and Olivia; Tim and Darla Even –- Sierra and Jacob; Marc Even; Ben Even; Joanna Even; Heather and Kendall McDaniel –- Lane, Harley, Eric and Corbin; Jessica Even; Paul and Jamie Eshom –- Aiden and Leia and many other relatives and friends.

Armella was preceded in death by her husband and ten brothers and sisters.
