Lucille Nelson

Lucille Nelson, 94, of Dell Rapids died Monday, February 28, 2011 at the Dells Area Health Center in Dell Rapids.

Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids Chapel.

Visitation with the family present will be prior to the funeral service begining at 11:30 AM Tuesday at the church.

Lucille Esser was born September 23, 1916 in Glen Haven, Wisconsin to parents Paul and Minnie (Christenson) Esser. In 1919 the family moved to Howard, SD. They also lived in Wentworth, Baltic and Cedar Rapids, Iowa before moving to Dell Rapids in 1951.

On June 10,1939 Lucille married Lloyd Nelson. He passed away December 26, 1979. Lucille worked at Voy Drug Store from 1955 to1965 and at Odd Fellows Nursing Home for ten years before retiring in 1982. She is a member of Dell Rapids Lutheran Church, WELCA and Circle group. She helped at quilting and folding Shepherd’s Staff.

Lucille enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, crocheting, playing cards and bingo and spending time with her friends.

Grateful for having shared her life are two daughters, Barbara and Jim Dybvig, Vancouver, Washington and Nila and Steve Bunkers, Dell Rapids; three grandchildren, Mark Dybvig, Vancouver, Washington; Tracy and Marc Michel, Dell Rapids and Cari and Joe Peters, Dell Rapids; seven great-grandchildren, Dustin Dybvig, Vancouver, Washington; Victoria, Haley and Ryan Michel, Dell Rapids; Zackary, Madison and Mckenzie Peters, Dell Rapids; sister, Bernielle Anderson, San Jacinta, California; and many other relatives and friends.

Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; parents; and a brother, Howard Esser.
