Angie Joy Moorhead

February 3, 1928 — January 4, 2011

Angie Joy Chudomelka, formerly of Presho, SD, died January 4, 2011 at the Diamond Care Center in Bridgewater, SD.

She was born on February 3, 1928 in Brainard, Nebraska to Paul and Magdalina (Arps) Chudomelka. Angie was the fifth of eight children, and attended grade school in Dodge County Nebraska. Her family later moved to Vancouver, Washington, where she graduated from high school in 1944.

She married Conn Lewis of Winner, SD on June 22, 1947. They lived many places, among them Winner and Witten before making their home in Presho in 1959. He died on July 9, 1982. She married Leo Brodrecht in 1967 and Sherman Morehead in 1990. She and Sherman enjoyed traveling and lived in Arizona, before returning to Presho. Angie was an avid reader and gardener, as well as a very talented seamstress. She could make anything from bridal gowns to baby clothes. Her passion was her love of animals. She cared for her own animals as most people care for their children, as well as caring for any animal she deemed needy.

Survivors include her four children, Connie (Doug) Foster, Mark Lewis, Mitch Lewis, and Lisa (Breeze) Van Tassel; 17 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and a sister, Magdalene Sixta.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Sherman Morehead, a daughter, Terri Anderson, sisters Goldie Hollebeck, Beverly Mincer, and Valberga Pabian, brothers, Douglas Chudomelka, Rolland Chudomelka and Paul Chudomelka, Jr. and parents Paul and Magdalina Chudomelka.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 30, 2011 at the American Lutheran Church in Presho.
