Joanne R. Sorenson

Joanne R. Sorenson, 75, of Brandon died Sunday, December 26, 2010 at Avera McKennan Hospital.
Funeral services will begin at 10:30 AM Friday, December 31, 2010 at Brandon Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Hills of Rest Memorial Park. Visitation with the family present will be from 5-7:00 PM Thursday at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Garretson.
Joanne was born March 15, 1935 in Sioux Falls to parents Elmer and Elaine (Sanford) Roberts. She grew up in Sioux Falls and graduated from Washington High School.
Joanne married Richard “Dick” Sorenson, August 26, 1961 in Sioux Falls. She started working for Northwestern Bell, which became Quest as an operator. She continued working there in a management position and moved with the company to Omaha in 1983. After her retirement they moved to Brandon in 1993.
She was a member of the Brandon Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her husband, Richard “Dick” Sorenson, Brandon; three sons, Randy (Elaine) Sorenson, Sioux Falls; Rickie (Kazumi) Sorenson, Guam; Ross (Kyli Atkinson) Sorenson, Omaha; four grandchildren, Michael and Mark Sorenson and Taylor and Alexis Atkinson and a sister, Rose Rosebrock, Sioux Falls.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Wendy, a sister, Peggy Tully and a brother Ron Roberts.
