Frances Sundermann



Frances Sundermann, 94, of Sioux Falls died Friday, February 1, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls.

Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at St. Joseph Cathedral in Sioux Falls. Burial will be in the Hills of Rest Memorial Park. Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM Monday with a Wake Service at 7:00 PM at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Dell Rapids.

Frances was born January 15, 1919 in Dane County, Wisconsin to parents John and Justina (Langer) Stransky. She attended Deansville Elementary and then graduated from Marshall High School in Wisconsin. She then attended the Edgewood College for one year.

She met Henry Sundermann in May of 1942 after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. She then took the train to Oakland, California to marry Henry in San Leandro, California on October 21, 1944. They moved to Scotland, South Dakota and lived there for four months, then moved to Sioux Falls in February of 1945. In 1967 they moved to a farm near Sioux Falls. She also kept books for her husband at Sundermann Manufacturing. Henry died January 1, 2005. She had been at resident of the Good Samaritan Assisted Living in Sioux Falls. She provided a loving home for her 10 children and their families. She was also a great neighbor and friend to many.

Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Carol (Robert) Saalborn, Longville, Minnesota; Betty (Mike) Reid, Sioux Falls; Rita (Steve) Dwight, Avon North Carolina; Lois (Mike) Lacey, Trent; Muriel Sink, Efland, North Carolina; Marion (Tor) Sorlien, Viborg; Teresa (Doug) Telkamp, Colman; Wanda Sundermann (Marc Marcoplos) Chapel Hill, North Carolina; Paul (Ann) Sundermann, Baltic; a son in law, Larry Weber, Montrose; 39 grandchildren; 66 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sister in law, Lavern McDaniel, Watertown.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry on January 1, 2005, her parents, a daughter, Ann Weber, great grandson, Wade Lacey, and son in law, Richard Sink.
